The Great Indian Murder is a 2022 Hindi language politics, crime, and thriller Indian web series directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. It is produced by Ajay Devgan & Priti Vinay Sinha and Reel Life Entertainment through his production studio. Richa Chadha, Pratik Gandhi, Richa Chadha, Pratik Gandhi, Ashutosh Rana, Raghuvir Yadav, Sharib Hashmi, Paoli Dam, and Shashank Arora are the star cast of this series. The series is based on the best-selling novel " Six Suspects" by Vikas Swarup. Many Indians believe that Vikas Swarup's novel Six Suspects based on true story of the Jessica Lal murder case, but the novel, according to Vikas Swarup, is a much broader look at modern India. The first episode of the series aired on February 4, 2022, on Disney+Hotstar. The series is now available on the OTT platform Disney + Hotstar in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali.

The Great Indian Murder Plot

The storyline is based on Vikas Swarup's 2016 novel 'Six Suspects,' which starts with Vicky Rai, son of Uttar Pradesh Home Minister, getting shot to death by bar manager Ruby Gill at a trendy New Delhi restaurant. This beginning was reminiscent of the Jessica Call murder case, wherein Manu Sharma, son of politician Venod Sharma, shot dead the model after she refused to serve him drinks at a swanky resto-bar in the Capital. The series begins with cops stopping a car at a checkpoint because the inspector needs a ride. But, the fact that the driver flees when asked to open the boot raises questions, and the cops discover the death of two young women there. The vehicle is licensed in the name of Chhattisgarh Home Minister Jagannath Singh's son, businessman Vikrant nicknamed Vicky Rai (Jatin Goswami, The great Indian Murder).

After his powerful dad pulls a few threads and bribes the policemen investigating this case, he is cleared. On the third anniversary date of his incarceration, Vicky Rai throws a party at his family's farmhouse in Chhatarpur to memorialize the case's conclusion.

In the middle of the celebration, he is shot to death. Even though a server, Munna (Shashank Arora, The Great Indian Murder cast), and an Andamans tribal, Eketi, are imprisoned on the grounds with a gun, Jagannath requests a CBI investigation, claiming that he was aimed. The CBI Suraj Yadav (Pratik Gandhi) and Sudha Bharadwaj, a police officer who was part of the team investigating Vicky's earlier case, are brought in to figure out who killed Vicky in Six Suspects?

Dhulia, Maurya, and Sharma did an excellent job adapting Swarup's novel, and their plot will leave you curious to know who killed Vicky and why. Furthermore, each of the suspects, from Munna and Eketi to Shabnam and Mohan Kumar (Raghubir Yadav), has a grudge against Vicky and a compelling cause to see him dead.

In the conclusion of The Great Indian Murder, you realize that revenge isn't the only motive at work and that a political conspiracy could also be at work. Now, let’s take a look at the cast of this series.

The Great Indian Murder Trailer and Release date

The Great Indian Murder Review

Swarup's novel is engaging enough on its own, but Dhulia's translation ensures that you are also engaged and involved in the incident. His storytelling technique includes recounting the story from the perspective of the characters and a lot of back-and-forths.

Pratik Gandhi gives a strong appearance while playing Suraj Yadav's character, a CBI officer with a political agenda. When he's presenting to political heavyweight Ambika Prasad, questioning the accused, pushing his stance when discussing the case with Sudha, or surrendering to Rita Sethi's charms, he skillfully portrays the various shades of Suraj Yadav. Richa Chadha, who plays cop Sudha Bharadwaj, holds her own against Gandhi's Suraj Yadav, and, like him, has her own goal. Ashutosh Rana portrays Jagannath Rai, a politician who prioritizes his political goals and ambitions over everything, even his family. Raghubir Yadav plays Mohan Kumar, who can also be Mohandas (Gandhi) depending on the situation. Sharib Hashmi, Paoli Dam, ensemble cast performance was decent.

Rishi Punjabi, the series' cinematographer, photographed the series genuinely while treating the various settings distinctively. The editing by Unnikrishnan P P and Prathamesh Chande keeps the story moving forward, while the music by Raghu Dixit and Ketan Sodha contributes to the suspense.

Even though it is based on a novel, this Ajay Devgn-produced series is captivating to watch due to its tension, suspense, and superb acting by a wide entire cast. You can watch the trailer from the link above to decide whether or not to watch the series, which is available in multiple languages on Disney+Hotstar.
