The national school of drama is a training institute that teaches theatre arts and is situated in New Delhi, India. NSD is an autonomous organization that comes under the ministry of culture, Government of India. It was established by the Sangeet Natak Akademi in 1959 and then it became an independent school in 1975. It was also granted a deemed university status in 2011, but it was revoked soon after. The current chairperson of the NSD is one of the best actors in our industry, Paresh Rawal.
To get admission into the NSD, a candidate needs to appear in the NSD Entrance Exam, which is conducted in 2 phases. The first phase is also known as the preliminary exam and after which there is a 5-day interview/workshop with the campus for the people who successfully pass the prelims. Before applying the candidates need to fit into a certain criterion which is as follows;
NSD eligibility of candidates;
Minimum age of 18 years
Maximum age of 30 years for unreserved applicants
A 5 year age relaxation for SC/ST & OBC candidates
The NSD offers a full-time 3-year diploma in subjects related to theatre and its components and the new sessions begin in July of every year. The two specialisations that NSD offers are, acting, theatre techniques and design.

It is a 5 step process which is like this;
Step 1: browse through the official website of NSD Delhi at www.nsd.gov.in/delhi.
Step 2: since you are applying for the first time, click on ‘New Admission’ on the homepage and then you will be redirected to a new page on the website.
Step 3: afterwards register as a new user by creating a custom username and a password.
Step 4: then you need to fill up the application form with all the required personal and academic details and also attach the necessary documents asked there.
Step 5: The final step in the national school of drama admission process is to submit the application form along with the documents and an application fee of Rs 50, which can be paid online through any of the popular mediums available there.

Step 1: The first step is to write to “The Dean Academics, National School of Drama, Bahawalpur House, Bhagwandas Road, New Delhi 110001” for requesting the application form and a prospectus in either English or Hindi.
Step 2: then you need to fill up that form duly and send this application accompanied with a crossed demand draft/pay order of Rs 225, payable at Delhi, including postal charges in the name of the ‘Director, National School of Drama, New Delhi’.

NSD is a very prestigious school of theatre in India and over the years it has given India a lot of very talented actors and actresses.
