Monali GuptaMay 17 . 5 min read

Lovelies welcome back. So, here I am with a review of Manu, a 2018 experimental romantic art film. So, before we get into the Manu movie review, let's have a look at Manu's story, cast, release date, trailer, and other features.

Manu is a Telugu-language film directed by debutant Phanindra Narsetti that was released in 2018. Raja Goutham and Chandini Chowdary are the Manu movie star cast. The movie relied on crowdfunding and received mixed reactions upon its release. The film's gripping storyline, direction, production design, songs, color management, and costumes have been praised by the audiences, but the film's exaggerated length and unnecessary detailing have been criticized. So, without spending any more time, let's get right to the movie's plot.

Manu Movie Plot

Manu (Raja Gautam) is an artist and has a troubled history. He is an introvert who likes the color black. Because tragedy has always been a part of his life. Neela (Chandini Chowdhary), a photographer who can speak poetically, is one of his ardent fans. We don't know whether Manu loves her at first. However, their first encounter results in a big blunder. Later in the Manu film plot, Neela mistook Manu for a womanizer and slapped him before walking away. Elsewhere, Manu gets engaged in a violent brawl with three thugs named Akbar, Amar, and Anthony while saving an elderly man from them. As time passes, Manu learns that the thugs are now after Neela. What kind of thugs are these? What are they up to, exactly? What is their relationship with Neela? Are you guys excited about knowing the whole story? then you can watch it online on Netflix.

Manu Movie Review

Let's start with the film's favorable elements. The film contains only four or five main characters, which makes the premise unique and the impact created by the film's amazing graphics sets it apart from other Telugu films. In the Manu film, Chandni Chowdary gave a stunning performance in her vital part. Her stage presence is excellent, and she performs admirably in all of the emotional scenes. Gautham, the hero, has considerably progressed since his earlier films. From his appearance to his performance in a demanding role, he has excelled. The love story of Manu Telugu movie depicted between the main characters is intriguing and contains some memorable moments.

Coming to the negative elements of the film. Sometimes your strength becomes your weakness and that’s what has happened here the same screenplay which is considered unique has become the film's worst villain, as the filmmaker fails to provide a clear picture of what is going on. Things are unclear until halftime, and you're left all confused as to what's happening in the Manu film. Phanindar, the director is the one who makes everything difficult and makes the story slow-paced. His plan to tell the story in reverse screenplay not only fails but also makes it difficult for the average person to follow. All you get to witness is a movie with a simple twist that drags on for hours. Another feature of the picture that disappoints is its length. Thrillers need to be sharp and rapid, but Manu takes its time and makes the audience uncomfortable. What should have been a straightforward visual thriller and suspense story is ruined by the director's optimism in the universe he constructed, which is a total toss for others.

Conclusion

Overall, Manu fails to live up to the expectations that were raised before the film's release. All you can see are some good performances from the actors, some nice graphics, and some catchy background music. The film lacks a thriller, moves slowly, and confuses you to the point where it's difficult to sit through three hours of it. This film offers nothing unique and should be watched only if you have a lot of free time.
