A police officer is assigned to investigate a crime scene in a town and discovers a string of crimes that surround it. He starts digging deeper and discovers that there is more to it than meets the eye. Doctor Rajasekhar plays Kalki, a cop who moves to a new city and is assigned the case of a missing person. His mission introduces him to deadly villains and challenges, and the movie revolves around Kalki's ability to solve the mystery.

We've been told that the region has been at peace since he returned. As a result, when he dies under mysterious circumstances, his elder brother accuses his archrival of murder. There is mayhem, and many people are killed. Kalki (Rajasekhar), an IPS officer, is dispatched to Kollapur to investigate the murder. Prasanth Varma made his directorial debut with Awe, which was not your typical thriller. Prasanth discussed many topics in Kalki, including the early days of pre-independence India, the Razakar Movement, Kingship, Aristocracy, Feudalism in Hyderabad (Telangana), and so on. The suspense factor is maintained until the end when we conclude a point on the true culprit with back-to-back bang-on twists in the last 15 to 20 minutes. However, too many subplots and complex and unrealistic narration played spoilsport, leaving the average audience unsatisfied. Prasanth Varma, on the other hand, was able to extract the best work from each member of the technical team. Dasaradhi Shivendra's camera angles created different moods in dissimilar situations, while Shravan Bharadwaj elevated the visuals with a background score. Songs are not required for films in this genre. Thankfully, the film only has a few songs. While one is a situational romantic song, the other is a special number included forcibly for the masses. Goutham Nerudu's poor editing work resulted in a lot of ambiguous narration. Happy Movies has good production values. When it comes to performances, Rajasekhar is always a good choice for these types of films. Though he lost his charm due to his age, his exceptional performance demonstrated that age is just a number. However, excessive heroism is unnecessary in thrillers, and Rajasekhar should be aware of this. Rahul Ramakrishn was given a meaty, lengthy role and made the most of it with witty and innocent performances. This character travels with Rajasekhar for the duration of the film. Nanditha Swetha has a good screen presence and plays a key character who is central to the plot until the end. Adah Sharma plays Dr. Padma, Kalki's ex-girlfriend, but her role is typecast and she has little to do with the plot. Apart from Rajasekhar, Ashutosh Rana is the antagonist who keeps the audience's attention. Rahul Ramakrishna's comic timing and humor keep the film interesting. Sidhu Jonnalagadda is a pleasant surprise, and Ashutosh Rana is a reliable performer. Female leads Adah Sharma, Nandita Swetha, and Poojitha Ponnada, as well as familiar Shatru, are given insufficient screen time. Nasser, as usual, delivered a strong performance.
In Kalki 2019 Malayalam film Tovino, who has effortlessly transitioned from romantic hero to student leader in his seven-year career, is now attempting to climb the ladder of superstardom through his Kalki avatar. He provides us with a mass entertainer by performing gravity-defying stunts, delivering mass dialogues, and ridding society of bad actors. It's the same formula as his Malayalam predecessors, but with a lot more blood. However, the Kalki film is reminiscent of one of Rajanikanth's old mass films in which evacuation is a central plot, as well as Suriya's Inspector Durai Singam from the Singam film. Kalki is for you if you enjoy an adrenaline rush, Tovino's looks, and action sequences with blood. Read towards the end to know about Kalki rating.
Overall, Kalki is an investigative thriller that comes alive in the second half. This film is nothing special or exciting, as the twists are only revealed interestingly in the last twenty minutes. However, to see this, you must sit through a tedious first half. If you succeed, the film will end up being an okay watch. Though the film isn't as suspenseful as some, it keeps things interesting until the end.
611 IMDb users voted with a weighted average of 6.8 out of 10 for the Kalki 2019 Malayalam film.
